How long does a switchboard upgrade take?
Most domestic upgrades are done in 4 to 6 hours, with power off for around 2 hours. We work clean and tidy and you'll have everything back on before dinner.
Do I need permission from Energex?
If we're not changing your service connection, no. If we are (eg, consumer mains upgrade or 3-phase install), Voltech handles all Energex paperwork on your behalf.
Will my power be off the whole time?
We isolate the supply for the cut-over only. Most clients get power back within 2 hours and we plan it around your day.
Why install RCBOs on every circuit?
Old boards usually have one safety switch shared across multiple circuits. RCBOs give every circuit its own protection, so a fault in the bathroom won't kill the lights and the fridge at the same time.
