A safety switch is the device that saves your life when something goes wrong with an appliance. It's the difference between feeling a tingle and being hospitalised, but only if it actually works, and only if every circuit has one. We test, replace and upgrade RCDs across south-east Brisbane.
Signs you need safety switches
- No 'TEST' button visible on your switchboard
- Safety switches that won't reset
- A safety switch that trips constantly with no obvious cause
- You haven't tested your safety switches in 6+ months
- You're a landlord. QLD law requires working RCDs on every rental
What's included with every Voltech safety switches job
- Type 2 RCBO per circuit (combined safety switch + breaker)
- Test of every circuit and every powerpoint
- Tripping report so you know what's actually drawing fault current
- Compliance label on the board
Pricing, what you can expect
Most domestic safety switches jobs in Brisbane fall in a known range, and we always put a fixed price on the quote before we start. Where we can give you a ballpark up-front, here it is, but we'll still come and look at the job properly before we commit to a number.
- Typical Voltech price starts at $370.
- Quote is free during business hours, no call-out fee for standard quotes.
- Fixed-price written quote, valid for 30 days.
- Card or bank-transfer payment accepted on the day.
Suburbs we work in for safety switches
We do safety switches work daily across south-east Brisbane, from Carina, Carindale and Camp Hill in the inner-east through to Wynnum and Manly on the bay. See the full service area.
Why Voltech?
We're a Camp Hill-based, owner-operated electrical business. John holds the QLD electrical contractor's licence, carries $20M public liability insurance, and is on every single job we do. There's no call centre, no rotating crew of contractors, and no hidden charges. We'd rather quote one job properly than ten jobs with surprises.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between a safety switch and a circuit breaker?
A circuit breaker protects the wiring from overload. A safety switch (RCD) protects the human from electric shock. You need both, modern RCBOs combine them in one device per circuit.
How often should I test my safety switch?
Press the 'T' (test) button every 6 months. If it doesn't trip, call us, it's no longer protecting your family.
