How much can I save replacing halogens with LEDs?
Each halogen pulls about 50W. An equivalent LED is 7 to 9W. Replace 20 halogens running 5 hours a day and you save about $300 a year on power, plus you stop replacing globes.
Are LEDs really safer than halogens?
Yes, halogens run at 250°C+ and are a documented house-fire risk when ceiling insulation comes into contact. LEDs run cool, last 10× longer and don't need an insulation cut-out.
